Why beds get out of control
Even a freshly mulched bed will start to flush weeds within a few weeks if it's left untreated - wind-blown seeds, bird-dropped seeds, and dormant seeds in the soil are constantly trying to fill any open space. Hand-pulling works but is brutal on your back and almost never keeps up. Our bed weed control program lets you skip the bend-and-pull marathon and keep beds sharp with minimal effort on your end.
How we treat beds
Treatments combine pre-emergent products that prevent new seeds from sprouting with targeted post-emergent applications on weeds that are already up. Our technicians apply these by spot-spraying around established plants, taking care to keep the products away from the desirable plantings you want to protect. For rock beds and gravel driveways - which are notoriously hard to keep clean - we can apply blanket treatments that reset the surface and then maintain it on a recurring schedule.
Recurring schedules
One treatment is rarely enough for a full season. Most properties do best with a recurring schedule of treatments through spring, summer, and fall, timed to catch weed flushes before they get established. The cumulative effect is dramatic - by the second season on a regular schedule, the seed bank in your beds is much smaller and visits get faster.
Plant safety
We use products labeled for landscape bed use and apply them with directed spray equipment to keep them off your perennials, shrubs, and trees. If you have a vegetable garden, sensitive ornamentals, or pollinator-attracting plantings, let us know up front so we can adjust products and avoid any sensitive zones.
